Luminisce Hollistic Skin Innovations

We cannot deny that appearance matters. We spend time, a lot of time sometimes, grooming ourselves because we want to appear good. We want to always present our best self. To me, what it really means is being comfortable in your own skin. But looking presentable is not enough. Beauty should be inside and out. Luminisce Hollistic Skin Innovations stands by this principle as well.

I am thankful that I seized the opportunity to visit their clinic because it reminded me how important it is to take care of myself in all aspects. It might come as a surprise to some when I say that I used to regularly pamper myself until I didn't. And no man should be embarrassed to admit such. If I had continued doing what I did, I most probably wouldn't be so uncomfortable having my picture taken. That would explain why you will rarely see a photo of me here in my blog. And I would really like to change that.

Dr. Kaycee Reyes

Expect a thorough skin analysis on your first visit because we know that not all skin type is the same. Dr. Kaycee Reyes will personally attend to this procedure and will discuss recommendations or solutions based on the results. You are in good hands with her expertise as a dermatologist and wellness expert given her exemplary background. She studied medicine in Dermatology of Sto. Tomas Faculty of Medicine & Surgery and finished Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology from King's College and St. John's Institute of Dermatology at Guy's & St. Thomas Hospital respectively in London.

I have always considered myself as an outdoor person. I love adventures and that involves a lot of basking under the sun. Being a mountaineer and a travel blogger could really take a toll on the skin. I would have gone back to getting regular facials, but the thought of how painful pricking during the process have withheld me. So when I learned about the pain-fee procedure of Luminisce, I immediately scheduled a visit.

Upon entering the clinic, I somewhat expected it to be typically cozy and dainty. But it was more than that. A very accommodating staff asked me to fill out a form that asked for basic personal information and skin problems. I was then ushered to the doctor's office for consultation.

Consultation with Dr Kaycee Reyes

I told the doctor my concerns regarding having an oily face, enlarged pores, and a recent recurring acne on my chin. She patiently discussed with me the cause of my problems. After, she gave her advises and called her assistant to give specific instructions on what treatments I needed to take that morning. And off I went into one of the treatment rooms.

Treatment Room

Unlike in some facial centers I have been to, there are only private rooms in Luminisce Hollistic Skin Innovations. I appreciate this because it made me more comfortable and it raised my trust that the facialist would be able to concentrate better. It was a pampering bliss with a calming music that helped one relax.

This is me before the procedure:

I underwent 3 procedures, namely:

The Luxury Facial is part of the Skin Revival Program. It is Luminisce's special and pain-free (!) treatment that includes a soothing facial cleanse with a relaxing facial massage. It deeply cleans pores to dirt and excess oil while minimizing pores for up to 2 weeks. A procedure called sonophoresis follows that enables skin to absorb nutrients and eliminates blackheads and whiteheads too. Revitalizing and skin hydration caps the Luxury Facial.

The skin revitalizing procedure uses a device called galvanic that safely passes electric current through the skin. A sheet of gauze was placed on top of my face during the process. I barely felt the current that actually has a tingling effect.

The last step for my luxury facial involves using a oxygenating machine to release cool and pressurized oxygen making my skin hydrated.

My next treatment is a Coquille Peel. This treatment is very effective in restoring healthy skin and youthful glow. It uses a Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) derived from natural fruit and food extracts that normalizes the skin's natural exfoliating and hydrating properties by shedding the rough skin and bringing back the skin's moisture levels.

Dr. Kaycee Reyes recommended that I try the Coquile Peel to reduce my acne and other skin irregularities, including excess oil, scars and dark spots. It is part of the skin cure program that clears acne inflammation right before it starts.

A gauze was put on top of my face before a fruit acid (white cream) was applied. Kate, my facialist, informed me that the gauze was used so that it would be easier to take the cream off my face. After several minutes, Kate raised the gauze and everything was removed. I find this peeling process ingenious. They didn't need to scrape anything off from my face.

Finally, I got one of the laser treatments called Silvercure Laser by Spectra XT. This is Luminisce's ultimate all-in-one skin solution. It was meant to address my enlarged pores and sun-damaged skin. They say that this procedure is considered the safest, fastest, and most advanced laser treatments available today.

I was ushered into another room for this procedure. My eyes were covered with a metallic object to protect it from any damage that may be caused by the laser. Dr. Reyes then came in and personally rendered the session. She informed me beforehand that I may feel something hot as she directs the Spectra XT Revival Treatment machine on my face. The heat generated goes deep into the dermis, causing damage to problem areas to initiate collagen and cell renewal. I think that is amazing.

The doctor said that is usually takes eight (8) session for the pores to fully tighten and minimize. She further added though that it is still a case to case basis. Some of her patients have seen the effect for a less number of visits while some may take longer.

The photo below was taken right after the final treatment:

Did you notice the difference between this picture and the one I took before the treatment? My acne is now barely visible and my face feels fresher. I cannot wait for my next session and maybe I should start practicing doing selfies.

  2. One of the greatest stars of the last quarter century has recently revealed that her most power weapon against aging is face peels. As Rachel Green on “Friends”, Jennifer Aniston became not just a household name, but also a trendsetter and something of a beauty icon. She even entered that most selective of small circles: celebrity spokesman for a major beauty line.

As her career has continued to blossom post-sitcom, and as she’s navigated a tricky personal life amidst a celeb-crazed media, she’s somehow managed to maintain a seemingly effortless beauty, looking remarkably similar to the girl we first met back in the 90’s.

The 45-year old has long relied on yoga along with a healthy diet to keep fit, and for skin beauty has used everything from oxygen facials and microdermabrasion. Now she’s revealing that when it comes to maintaining quality skin, she found the best results with face peels. She says they leave her skin “feeling baby soft,” but more importantly looking fantastic even under difficult situations.

Under the glare of the paparazzi’s lens, the smallest imperfections on an actress have been magnified and over-analyzed. The hyper-coverage becomes even more intense when it involves scandal. The focus becomes tighter, and the scrutiny becomes unimaginable, Aniston admits.

She famously told Vanity Fair of how the paparazzi (which she calls ‘Ratsies’) hounded her in the months surrounding her separation and eventual divorce from leading man Brad Pitt. This was complicated heavily by the presence of another woman in his life, specifically Angelina Jolie. The two reportedly became better acquainted while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” as husband and wife assassins, while still of course married to Aniston.

It was during those turbulent times that Aniston’s unshakeable beauty first became iconic in its own right. As the world tuned in to discover how she was holding up, they discovered quite well, as it turns out. That’s when the beauty world began asking it’s favorite question: what’s her secret?

Her skin, it seems, was universally recognized as one of her best features: a fresh and natural glow that projects youth, vitality and - in her case- resilience in the face of adversity.

Face peels have long been one of her regular treatments, a quick and easy reboot that she says she prefers over the prospects of surgery. Seeing first-hand how the surgical route has faired not so well for many of her contemporaries, she admits, played a big role in forming her own beauty regimen.

“I am grateful to learn from their mistakes,” the actress explained. “I see them and my heart breaks.”

The actress admits she still finds great results with facials and other treatments like Guinot, but her personal preference is now the peel.

Different peels use different methods, each designed to essentially clear away damaged layers of outer skin while simultaneously treating the fresh skin below. Some methods rely on natural lactic acid to gently exfoliate, others use glycolic or even a directed laser.
Their impact is hard to miss. While completely safe for the skin, they powerfully rejuvenate not just the skin, but the natural glow and spirit hidden beneath.
