Azalea Hotels and Residences Baguio: Your Home in the Highlands

I wanted to visit Baguio City early this year to feel the chilly weather. It was a good thing I held back and waited for the Baguio Food Tour 2014. I certainly did not expect that we would be staying in such a beautiful hotel and was surprised when we checked in at Azalea Residences. The ambiance was different. It was very homey and cozy.

The staff welcomed us with a pleasant smiles. The spacious lobby has a ceiling that extends all the way to the top floor. This modern architecture actually lets abundant natural light come through the glass walls. It is economical and practical at the same time. It also gives a certain comfort of not feeling confined.

Our suite has two bedrooms and a sofa bed. It also has a dining and kitchen area. I would willingly cook for the group during our 2-night stay had not this been a food tour. The kitchen is complete with appliances, including an induction stove, an oven and a small fridge. It was like I was in my own home.

The regular room had a mounted television and really looked cozy and comfortable. The common toilet and bath was spacious. This is the last part I usually look in hotels, but I was really impressed. The view from our veranda shows the quiet neighborhood, as the hotel is tucked in a partly secluded area of the city. It is a home away from home!

If the regular room was cozy, the master's bedroom was so much more. Sleeping is the least thing I do in hotels, but the bed was so inviting I had to snuggle myself. Well, that was before Utazo sneaked himself into the bed before I can. It had its own toilet and bath, complete with toiletries and a rain shower. I took a much deserved nap to recharge myself for the next activity.

Azalea Residences is located in Leonard Wood Loop, across Teachers' Camp and approximately 10-15 minutes from tourist attractions that includes Wright Park, Camp John Hay and Mines View Park. The hotel is hidden from the busy streets of Baguio City, but still accessible to public transportations. The design of a facade resembles a log cabin similar to the ski resorts I see on the television.

There are one hundred modern luxury suites to choose from for a comfortable stay: 46 deluxe hotel rooms, 17 one-bedroom suites, 33 two-bedroom suites, 3 three-bedroom suites and 1 presidential suite. We were given a chance to look the other rooms the following day as most of the rooms are occupied. All suites have a dining table and a well-equipped kitchen. Suites with multiple rooms have a television set in each room aside from the living area and a separate toilet and bath in the master's bedroom.

Presidential Suite Gallery

The Presidential Suite is the grandest of all the rooms. It has two levels with three rooms on the second floor. The first level has a spacious living room with a virtual fireplace, a large dining area, a kitchen and a common toilet and bath. This suite is a close replicate of log cabins found in the summer homes in Baguio City owned by affluent families. The interiors are simple yet elegant. The most famous personality who had stayed here is Kris Aquino no less.
