Bikol Blends Cafe: Where to Spend a Nightcap in Legazpi, Bicol

Bikol Blendz Cafe

Just beside 1st Colonial Grill is Bikol Blends Cafe. This may be the the only coffee shop in Daraga, but I am not quite sure. I uttered to my friend that we can go there later in the evening to hang out.

We returned that evening and met with the Pinoy Adventurista to sample their menu and perhaps get connected back into the digital world. Their menu is quite interesting - Sili Shake and Pili Shake among their list. They also had Barako, which the name suggests is quite strong. This is what my friend ordered. Bicol is known for Pili nuts and is a regular take home or pasalubong item. Many of the restaurants in Albay, like Bikol Blends Cafe and 1st Colonial Grill have found several ways to include Pili in their cuisine including their drinks and desserts.

The cafe, though not that spacious is quite cozy. Wi-Fi Internet is fast. Their sofa looks inviting for some needed relaxation. If I sat there for more than 30 minutes, I would have probably fallen asleep. People come and go, some to meet their friends, others or most people simply want to have a good dining experience.

Pasta Bicolano

Here's a personal tip from Ramil of Pinas Muna. He told us to ask for Pasta Bicolano, which is NOT included in the menu, but is definitely available. It is highly recommended for people who enjoy spicy food. Aside from the chili, it didn't really look hot, but I was mistaken. One spoonful and I was already perspiring. Whew! I was in for a challenge. It was really spicy at he same time, it was delicious. Add to that the Guinobatan Longganisa that was included in the ingredients.

Ibos

I was already full after finishing the pasta, but I was intrigued by the Ibos on display. It looks like and tasted like "Suman" but there is something different about it that I can't explain. "Ibos" are made from sticky rice or "malagkit rice", coconut milk and a little bit of salt. This is best served with "latik" or perhaps Muscovado sugar.

Crepe
Crepe

I ordered "Crepe" to taper off the spice of the Pasta Bicolano. It's just the regular crepe but it was enough to get off the aftertaste of the pasta. Next time, I will try their Sili Shake and probably another order of their spicy pasta.
